Juan is back for Roma

      The AS Roma central defender Matteo Ferrari is to be denied a return to the north-west of England after injuring his left knee in training yesterday.

      The 28-year-old, who played eight Premier League games on loan at Everton FC in 2005/06, is to undergo exploratory surgery today and willl not feature when the Giallorossi attempt to overturn a 2-0 deficit at Manchester United FC in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

      There was some good news for coach Luciano Spalletti today, though, as Brazilian centre-back Juan, 29, was passed fit after recovering from the ankle injury which kept him out of Tuesday's defeat.
